But there’s a catch, according to science. Stretching after a workout isn’t doing what you think it’s supposed to do. This certainly doesn’t mean stretching is worthless. People just don’t know where they should direct their recovery efforts.

Stress management. High stress means higher cortisol, which delays recovery. Meditation, breathwork, or rest can reduce these stress signals.

Progressive training programming. Intelligent periodization with deloads prevents overtraining. This is recovery infrastructure.

Stretching? It supports one of these (flexibility/mobility). It’s not a recovery accelerator.

Common Post Workout Stretching Mistakes

Stretching when muscles are cold.
